Indonesia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah Visits Hotel Kampoeng Indonesia at the Imam Bukhari Complex, Samarkand

The Minister of Hajj and Umrah of the Republic of Indonesia, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf — widely known as Gus Irfan — visited Hotel Kampoeng Indonesia, located in the area of the Imam Bukhari shrine complex in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The visit took place between his official engagements in Samarkand, after he accepted an invitation from the Governor of Samarkand, Adiz Muzaffarovich Boboev. On that occasion, Gus Irfan took the time to have lunch and enjoy a variety of Indonesian specialties served at the hotel.

Gus Irfan welcomed the presence of Hotel Kampoeng Indonesia, which is part of the investment made by the Indonesian company EGI Resources in Uzbekistan. A hotel built around an Indonesian concept, he noted, can serve as one way to introduce Indonesian cuisine, culture, and identity in the middle of a region that has become an important destination for travelers and pilgrims from many countries. His visit also became a moment to see first-hand a facility that brings an Indonesian atmosphere to the Imam Bukhari complex area.

In addition to visiting Hotel Kampoeng Indonesia, Gus Irfan also went to the Imam Bukhari shrine complex and made a pilgrimage to the tomb of the great scholar. During the pilgrimage he was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Uzbekistan, Siti Ruhaini Dzuhayatin. The activity was part of a series of working visits by Gus Irfan in Samarkand and, at the same time, strengthened the relationship between Indonesia and Uzbekistan.
